Polypaks – the “Square” Clam Shell Cases
So I walk into the Video Labs’ packaging department the other day, and I hear a cry, “I need 500 Polypak cases!” Without missing a beat, and not seeing me, someone across the room replies, “Must be an order for one of David Ryan’s clients.” Then they both see me, and smile.
Yeah, the inventory for Polypaks has sure increased since I joined the company’s sales and marketing team. As my clients know, I am a big fan of these.

Sure, a standard vinyl case with a classy wrap can’t be beat, but if that’s just too extensive — or expensive — for your project, then I always advise clients to concentrate their money into the disc face art, and package the discs in clear plastic cases and let the disc face label show through and sell the message.
I particulary like the Polypaks because they are durable and a bit pliable like clam shell cases, but again, they are square and don’t roll around like regular clam shell cases when placed on shelves with other discs. And maybe it’s just me, but I also think they look more professional and substantial than their circular counterparts.
Now the slimline jewel case http://tinyurl.com/6k9n3l (a thinner version of the regular jewel case, and therefore without the bottom tray card and spine label), can be effective too without any extra printing, but those can get cracked when shipping.
Pricing for Polypaks vary upon quantity, but I price Trimpaks and Clam Shell cases the same — somewhere around $0.35 ea. (includes disc insertion)
