The video signal degrades slightly every time it passes in or out of a device that processes the signal. Generation loss can be avoided by making an exact copy of the digital video file recorded on the tape. The dub, or “file transfer” will have no “generational loss”. – Similar to copying a file on your personal computer.
What is 24P?
Heard of 24P? Ever wondered what it was? Essentially, it’s a technology that allows video to look more like film. Cinematic film is run at 24 frames per second (fps), essentially 24 single images pass through the camera (or projector) every second. The perceptual process of the brain holds these individual images on the retina causing the perception of smooth motion.

Horizon Entertainment crew in Alaska shooting Weatherventures
Todd Easton is the owner and CEO of Horizon Entertainment in Rockville, Maryland. The company produces programming for a variety of cable networks. Their longest running series, House Detective, ran for over 100 episodes on HGTV. They have also produced documentary programming for Discovery Health and The History Channel.
